UQ Art Museum

The UQ Art Museum is one of the most well attended University Art Museums in Australia with over 65,000 visitors per year. Set within one of Australia’s leading research and teaching universities, the UQ Art Museum draws upon the talents of the University and the broader community to deliver an innovative exhibition program that promotes deep engagement through exceptional art.

The UQ Art Museum hosts regular free public programs such as lectures and symposia, panel discussions, tours, seminars and other events throughout the year with the aim of stimulating debate and dialogue. It provides a safe place for critical discussion and informs these public programs with leading academics and industry professionals from all disciplines.

The Museum is also home to the UQ Art Collection, an extraordinary teaching resource of around 4,000 original artworks.

About This Opportunity

The Advancement Manager (UQ Art Museum) will manage the Museum’s engagement and fundraising efforts and activities with alumni, students, influential individuals, corporates, trusts and foundations, and donors. The Advancement Manager will also utilise the full range of arts, humanities, and social sciences opportunities at UQ to coordinate relationships and craft a comprehensive UQ experience for philanthropic stakeholders.

With the guidance of and in collaboration with the UQ Art Museum Director and the Director of Advancement (Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences), the Advancement Manager will create, manage, and execute the UQ Art Museum Advancement Strategic Plan, with focus on fundraising, nurturing relationships with key influential individuals, businesses and agencies, and in increasing the UQ Art Museum’s value to the University’s Advancement efforts. The UQ Art Museum’s five principal areas of fundraising are: Program (exhibitions and education), People (staff development and student engagement), Building Fund, Collection (acquisitions and conservation), and growing the Art Museum Endowment.

This position is located at our St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

You will have at least 5 years’ experience in advancement, fundraising, development and/or marketing and sales, with a strong preference given for major gift fundraising experience. You will also have demonstrated experience in conceiving and executing fundraising and relationship-building strategic plans for museums, art galleries, not-for-profit or similar organisations. Our successful applicant will have postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications. Alternatively, a combination or extensive relevant experience and/or education/training will be appropriate.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time continuing or position at HEW level 8.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $96,466 - $108,318, plus super of up to 17% and recreation leave loading of 17.5%.
