About This Opportunity

A 3 year fixed term Postdoctoral Research Fellow opportunity to join Professor Matt Trau team within AIBN . You will gain highly regarded exposure to;

  • cross-collaborating with Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) 
  • engineering of proteins and biologics for development of biomolecular tools. In particular these include:
    • biosensors, bio-nanomaterials, nanoyeast, phage display and other potential technologies for application in molecular sensing of various diagnostic targets.

Our Ideal Candidate

Research Academic Level A Research Academic Level B
  • PhD in the area of protein bioengineering, synthetic biology and / or molecular biology
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge in the areas of synthetic biology, protein bioengineering, protein expression and analysis, biosensor development, gene engineering/molecular biology and protein discovery using phage/yeast display platforms
  • A track record of innovative and independent research

In addition

  • Demonstrated national recognition in the fields of synthetic biology, protein bioengineering or molecular biology
  • Evidence of a contribution to research, including publication of high impact peer reviewed journal articles and successful external grant applications that support independent and collaborative research
  • Evidence of effective supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students
  • experience with securing funding for research projects in a University or similar environment

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term position for three years. The appointment will be made at either Academic level A or B (depending on experience and qualification)

  • At Academic level A, the base salary will be in the range $67,542 - $90,982, plus super of up to 17%. The total package will be in the range $79,024 - $106,448.
  • At Academic level B, the base salary will be in the range $95,771 - $113,728, plus super of up to 17%. The total package will be in the range $112,052 - $133,061.
