Queensland Brain Institute (QBI)

QBI was established in 2003 and is home to more than 450 scientists and 42 laboratory leaders. Our researchers have made important advances in fundamental neuroscience and in diseases such as ageing dementia, schizophrenia and motor neurone disease.

About This Opportunity

Based in the Neuropsychology Research Clinic, the successful appointee will investigate the cognitive mechanisms involved in the early stages of language generation and the role of broader cognition with a focus on frontal lobe functions. In addition to this duties will include:

  • publishing high quality papers
  • present research results at meetings of various levels
  • apply for both independent and collaborative research funding
  • contribute to supervision and mentoring of junior members and students with the clinic

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. For US applicants, please note that Australian Universities use British terminology, as such a Lecturer (Level B) position is equivalent to that of an Assistant Professor position in the US.

Our Ideal Candidate

A PhD in the area of neuropsychology, speech/language, cognitive neurosicence, or other relevant scientific discipline is a requirement for the role. A genuine interest in neuropsychology and competency with another method/technique (eye tracking, brain stimulation, neuroimaging) will be integral to success in the position as well as a high level of motivation, interpersonal and communication skills.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term position for up to 2 years at Academic Research level A.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $67,542.89 - $90,982.26, plus super of up to 17%. (The total package will be in the range $79,024 - $106,448)
