The Queensland Brain Institute (QBI), established in 2003 under the leadership of Founding Director Professor Perry Bartlett, has developed a reputation as one of the world's leading neuroscience research institutes.  Part of the University of Queensland, the Institute is home to over 450 scientific staff led by 41 Group Leaders.  

To focus on important areas, QBI has established three Institute Centres: The Science of Learning Centre; The Clem Jones Centre for Ageing Dementia Research and; The Centre for Neurogenetics and Statistical Genomics. The importance of QBI's research is demonstrated through publications in the most prestigious international journals and a very high success rate in NHMRC and ARC grants.

About This Opportunity

A new opportunity exists for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to be involved in projects towards identifying and testing of novel monoclonal antibodies as therapeutic agents, validated and delivered to the brain via therapeutic ultrasound, in neurogenerative diseases, in particular Alzheimer's disease. The incumbent will be responsible for experimental design, data analyses, and manuscript preparation, and will also be expected to apply for both independent and collaborative funding to support their research focus.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. For US applicants, please note that Australian Universities use British terminology, as such a Lecturer (Level B) position is equivalent to that of an Assistant Professor position in the US.

Our Ideal Candidate

Applicants should possess a PhD in the area of immunology and biochemistry. You should also have demonstrated and published research experience in expression and purification, along with experience in antibody cloning and vitro cell culture techniques, ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders but also be able to work independently and use initiative, and high level interpersonal and communication skills.

This is a full-time, fixed term 2 year position at Academic level A.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $67,542 - $90,982, plus super of up to 17%.
