About This Opportunity

A new opportunity exists for a Research Assistant to work with the National Biologics Facility (NBF), within AIBN. The NBF provides high-quality, custom discovery and manufacturing solutions for the development and production of recombinant biopharmaceuticals in mammalian cells.  The facility works with academic and industrial researchers to help drive their research from early discovery through to pre-clinical development, and receives funding from the Commonwealth Government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy, via Therapeutic Innovation Australia.

This position will provide technical support to the Queensland node of the National Biologics Facility in the areas of antibody discovery, antibody engineering, production and characterisation.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

For US applicants, please note that Australian Universities use British terminology, as such a Lecturer (Level B) position is equivalent to that of an Assistant Professor position in the US.

Our Ideal Candidate

Applicants should possess a Science degree with subsequent relevant experience. You should also have demonstrated experience working in antibody discovery using phase display, experience with anybody characterisation, proficiency in molecular biology and familiarity with following SOPs, record keeping and preparation of batch reports.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term position for up to 2 years at HEW Level 6.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $77,400 - $83,267 plus super of up to 17%.
