Global Engagement & Entrepreneurship

The Global Engagement and Entrepreneurship (GE&E) Office is responsible for leading UQ’s business development and engagement activities with UQ’s current and potential partners. In particular, the division leads and oversees the implementation of the University’s strategy to develop specific partnerships with universities, government, research and industry bodies, both in Australia and around the world. GE&E is responsible for overseeing the University’s Global Strategy Framework, which includes management of UQ’s international agreements, sponsored student programs, international development initiatives, international visits and missions, and high level engagement events.

The Office is also responsible for driving the ongoing development and delivery of the UQ Entrepreneurship Strategy and manages the strategy implementation across the institution under the Ventures brand. Building entrepreneurship mentor and partner networks to support Ventures activities, and identifying student engagement opportunities are an important role of the office.

About This Opportunity

As the Head of Ventures, you will provide leadership in further developing the UQ Entrepreneurial ecosystem, connecting relevant operations and activities across the university. You will play a key role in facilitating external relations with the local entrepreneurial ecosystem, and will be a key contact for external parties seeking to engage with UQ on entrepreneurship initiatives.

Leading the high performing Ventures team, you will provide day-to-day management and coordination of entrepreneurship programs, manage staff and resources, and be a trusted support and advisor to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement & Entrepreneurship).

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

As our ideal candidate, you will hold a Postgraduate Degree in business, entrepreneurship, or innovation management with intellectual and strategic leadership experience in collaborative, transdisciplinary entrepreneurship activities.

You will have demonstrated experience in developing networks, building relationships and operationalising partnerships, evidenced through a strong network of contacts and past collaborations amongst local, national and global entrepreneurship eco-systems.

You will have a demonstrated ability to research and interpret complex data-sets, with proven high-level conceptual and analytical skills investigating issues, problem-solving and interpreting trends, policies and practices.

This is a full-time, fixed term (Five year) position at HEW level 10. A competitive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
