The Centre for Organic Photonics and Electronics (COPE) draws together expertise from Chemistry and Physics in a combined facility. COPE has more than 25 senior research staff, postdoctoral fellows and research students and is housed in laboratories that include state-of-the-art synthesis and materials characterisation facilities; a Class 1000 clean room incorporating gloveboxes with integral evaporators for device fabrication; and prototype measurement capability. COPE is located within the School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences (SCMB) and the School of Mathematics and Physics.

The Centre has extensive experimental and computational research programs in optoelectronic organic materials for organic photovoltaics, organic light emitting diodes, and organic chemosensors. The Centre is a partner in the Australian Centre for Advanced Photovoltaics (ACAP) along with the University of New South Wales, Australian National University, University of Melbourne, Monash University and CSIRO.  ACAP is a Strategic Research Initiative funded by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) through its USASEC program, and also involves US-based universities and national laboratory partners.  This postdoctoral research fellow position is directly associated with this program.

About This Opportunity

This position will conduct research into the development of perovskite and/or organic solar cells – in particular, their fabrication, scaling, testing and electrical/optical characterisation. The position is funded under the ARENA ACAP program and closely aligned with work programs on earth abundant PV technologies. 

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

The applicant should possess a PhD or post-doctoral experience in a relevant area of Physics, Engineering or Materials Science. In addition experience in the design, fabrication and testing of organic solar cells and/or perovskites solar cells is highly desirable.

This is a full-time, fixed term position for one year at Academic level A.The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $83,627.77 - $92,782.26, plus super of up to 17%.
