The School of Veterinary Science at The University of Queensland invites applications for a Clinician in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care at our Gatton based Hospital – UQ VETS. The UQ Gatton campus is located in sunny South East Queensland, approximately 1-hour drive from the capital city of Brisbane and within 1.5 hours of the world-renowned Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast regions.

The School has high quality facilities at the UQ Gatton Campus, providing the teaching, research and clinical infrastructure and resources to develop its strong reputation as a leading provider of veterinary training, research and clinical care. The school also maintains a small animal hospital and large animal clinic at Dayboro, north-west of Brisbane. 

The role

This position is responsible for providing high quality emergency and critical care of small animal patients within the School's Small Animal Hospital, situated on the Gatton campus. The appointee will participate in the management of primary, emergency and referral cases requiring emergency & critical care and partake in 24/7 shift roster. In addition to ensuring excellence in clinical care, the appointee will participate in the clinical teaching and instruction of undergraduate and postgraduate veterinary science and veterinary technology students. 

The person

Applicants must have a degree in Veterinary Science or Veterinary Medicine registrable in Queensland together with demonstrated previous experience in an Emergency and Critical Care veterinary clinic environment.

This is a full-time continuing appointment advertised at multiple levels Hew 6/7 and Hew 8. Candidates are requested to indicate the level they are applying for in the application. The remuneration package will be in the range

Hew 6:  $79,200.25 - $85,067.08, plus super of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $92,664.30 - $99,528.48 p.a.)

Hew 7:  $87,222.69 - $94,885.99, plus super of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $101,816.55 - $111,016.61 p.a.)

Hew 8 - $98,298.92 - $110,376.41 plus super of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $115,009.74 - $134,265.85 p.a.)

Shift loadings (15% for afternoon shift, 25% for night shift and 50% for weekend shift) may apply in accordance with the Enterprise Agreement.
