About This Opportunity

The Catering and Events Assistant provides support to the efficient and effective running of event related activities at UQ’s Brisbane City Campus venue and is a critical link between the venue, catering suppliers and event clients.

You will be the critical link between venue, catering suppliers, catering delivery and event clients. This position is responsible for the purchase, preparation and provision of food, beverage and catering requirements during events as well as organisation of catering suppliers and orders, and of the upkeep of event equipment and facility areas. This is a physically demanding role, requiring the safe movement of furniture and equipment between a number of spaces to ensure event requirements are met.

Our Ideal Candidate

You will have a diploma qualification in business, events or hospitality or Certificate IV with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in event coordination. You will have;

  • experience supporting venue and event operations, sales, marketing and promotions including event management software
  • understanding of financial operations
  • understanding of OH&S risks and issues in an event venue setting
  • understanding of Fair Work Employment, general employment conditions and the importance of understanding UQ policies and procedures when supervising employees.

As the Executive Venue operates from 6am to 10pm Monday to Friday, members of the Venue Team may be expected to undertake flexible working hour within this time span.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term (approximately 14 months until February 2022) position at HEW level 4.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $64,142 - $69,276, plus super of up to 9.5%. The total FTE package will be in the range $75,046 - $81,053.
