About This Opportunity

Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology is currently seeking an experienced Floor Manager to join their team.

Primarily responsible for managing all aspects of the shared facilities and research equipment, the Floor Manager plays a significant role in implementing policies and operational procedures related to all areas of research activity.

In collaboration with other AIBN Floor Managers to coordinate activities and support throughout AIBN’s research facilities, responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Management of central AIBN laboratory equipment, including scheduling, supply of consumables, correct use of instrumentation, training, servicing and testing regimes
  • Act as liaison between the research staff and the Institute’s Infrastructure Manager and the OHS Manager, including providing after-hours contact
  • Facilitate and record the movement of research equipment within the AIBN
  • Occupational Health and Safety duties including assisting research staff undertaking risk assessments, acting as Floor Fire Warden and First Aid Officer and monitoring OHS requirements as required

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus.

Our Ideal Candidate

Alongside a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in a related field of chemistry, biology or biochemical engineering; OR an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training the successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • A broad technical knowledge of scientific instrumentation and research environments
  • Techniques in Molecular Biology, Chemistry or Engineering with relevant experience in biology or a chemistry research environment or related fields
  • An ability to work with a variety of stakeholders, including research staff and students
  • An ability to work in an efficient and well-organised manner, exercise independent judgement, meet deadlines, follow tasks through to completion and undertake complex problem solving

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term position until 31 December 2021 at HEW level 6 or 7

The 2021 full-time equivalent base salary for HEW 6 will be in the range $80,763 - $99,913 plus super of up to 17%. The total available package will be in the range $103,852 - $116,898.

The 2021 full-time equivalent base salary for HEW 7 will be in the range $87,022 -$94,855 plus super of up to 17%. The total available package will be in the range $104,541 -$113,987
