Social Identity and Groups Network (SIGN)

The Social Identity and Groups Network (SIGN) is a research centre within the School of Psychology.  SIGN brings together leading researchers from around the world to collaborate in the study of social identity and group processes. Members of the network conduct cutting-edge research that explores the importance of social identity for a range of social, clinical, organisational and political topics. This work has broad theoretical and applied relevance. Core members of SIGN are based in the School of Psychology at The University of Queensland, but the Social Identity and Groups Network has a strong international focus, with collaborators spread throughout Europe, North America, and Asia.

About This Opportunity

An opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Social Psychology) to maintain and further develop the academic integrity and vitality of SIGN through contributions to undergraduate teaching within the School of Psychology and to ensure the training of future postgraduate students through supervision.

As a Lecturer, you will work on growing your profile in teaching, research and service, and engagement in social psychology. You may coordinate/lead other staff and contribute to effective student supervision. You would be expected to achieve national recognition in your field of research.

As a Senior Lecturer, you will be leveraging your established record of achievement in teaching, research and service, and engagement in the field of Social psychology. You will have an excellent track record of supervising students as a principal advisor and experience of leading staff. You would be expected to achieve national recognition and a developing international profile in your field of research.

This position is located in the School of Psychology (see below) at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

You will hold a PhD in a relevant area of social psychology and have a track record of research drawing on the social identity approach. You will have a growing profile in teaching and research along with a developing reputation of publications in reputed journals. A background in course administration, student supervision, and experience in internal service roles will be highly regarded.

In addition to the above, to be considered for the Senior Lecturer position, you will have a growing international profile and established record of publications in reputed journals.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term position for 5 years at Academic Level B or C.

  • For Academic Level B, the base salary will be up to $118,206 pa, plus superannuation of up to 17%. The total package will be up to $138,301 pa.
  • For Academic Level C, the base salary will be up to $140,603 pa, plus superannuation of up to 17%. The total package will be up to $164,506 pa.
