The historic Customs House located on the river at 399 Queen Street in Brisbane’s CBD is The University of Queensland’s premier downtown restaurant, function and heritage facility. Customs House operates The Daily Coffee Co. at The University of Queensland’s Brisbane City Campus at 293 Queen Street. Customs House also provides outside catering in the CBD and St Lucia.  

Patina at Customs House is a modern and contemporary restaurant offering relaxed dining with an emphasis on paddock to plate philosophy, Patina offers a unique shared dining experience overlooking the river and the Story Bridge. 

Facilities also include a range of superior function rooms catering from 6 to 300 guests.  Customs House has been awarded multiple state and national awards. The venue holds over 800 functions per year. Clients include high profile university, government and corporate clients as well as private clients and visitors to Brisbane.

About This Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Sous Chef Jnr to lead our restaurant team. You will be heavily involved in developing new menus and ensuring standards are maintained. Excellent working conditions.

This position is located at Customs House Brisbane in the CBD

Our Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a chef that values great produce from South East Queensland and can develop an exciting menu that pays homage to the land, people and produce. You will have very high standards and excellent leadership skills, with a minimum of 3 years experience in the role of Sous Chef or Demi chef in a similar establishment. 

You must have ongoing unrestricted work rights in Australia to apply for this opportunity.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term position until August 2022 at HEW level 5.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $69,408 - $77,306, plus super of up to 9.5%. The total FTE package will be in the range $76,002 - $84,650.

You will be able to take advantage of recreation leave loading (of 17.5%), salary sacrificing options, discounted private health insurance, development programs and many other benefits.
