About This Opportunity

Working closely with the Communications and Engagement Manager, the Senior Communications and Engagement Officer will primarily be responsible for developing and delivering on stakeholder engagement strategies, aimed at facilitating engagement with a wide range of BDHP stakeholders including; health professionals, patients, community advocacy groups, the general public, researchers, medical scientists and government.

The successful applicant will, in collaboration with stakeholder organisations, develop content and manage communications across a range of channels including briefings, media, social media, website, events, and e-newsletters, as well as undertake engagement activities for BDHP.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with key stakeholders and the BDHP Management Team to develop and implement strategies for communications and engagement that support BDHP’s objectives.
  • Lead on planning, managing and delivering a range of community engagement activities including (but not limited to) focus groups, surveys, workshops, advisory groups, events and co-design activities.
  • Lead on planning, managing and delivering a range of communications and engagement activities including (but not limited to) media, social media, website, events, e-newsletters, video, fact sheets, information and education materials and others identified in the communications strategy.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on the effectiveness of communications and engagement activities.

BDHP maintains physical offices at both the Herston Campus and at the Translational Research Institute. These campuses house vibrant clinical and research communities delivering innovative and contemporary research and education programs in clinical academic environments.

This position is primarily located at the Herston Campus, which is conveniently located just minutes from Brisbane’s city centre, with access to multiple public transport connections, onsite parking and cycling facilities.

Our Ideal Candidate

Alongside the completion of a recognised bachelor’s degree in communications, engagement, marketing, journalism or a related discipline with at least 5 years’ relevant work experience (or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training), the successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience in planning, managing and delivering a range of communications and engagement activities including (but not limited to) media, social media, website, events, e-newsletters, video, fact sheets, information and education materials and others identified in the communications strategy.
  • Highly developed interpersonal written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to write clearly, concisely and appropriately for specific audience groups, and communicate with diverse groups, both within the University and the broader community.
  • Experience in simultaneously managing multiple communications and engagement activities on an ongoing basis.
  • Highly developed planning and organisational skills and ability to work in a dynamic environment.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, 12 month fixed-term position (with possibility of extension) at HEW Level 7. Part-time or flexible working arrangements are available.

The full-time base salary will be in the range of $88,763- $96,783, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $103,852 - $113,236.
