The Student Progression team within ASD provides high-quality advice and services in the areas of Academic documents, Academic Progression, Enrolments, Graduations, and Student Visas.

The Academic Services Division (ASD) has primary responsibility for the delivery of student focused administrative functions and contributes to student-related policy development.  The Student Centre within the Academic Services Division provides a centralised advice service for student enquiries across a broad range of University activities and general enquiries from staff and the wider community.  Information about the Division and the Directorate may be accessed on the ASD web site at https://teaching-learning.uq.edu.au/about/academic-services-division

About This Opportunity

Graduation ceremonies are the culmination of a period of intense work for over 12000 students annually, and are held each July and December. The Graduations team is recruiting current students as casual staff to perform crucial functions at these ceremonies, including:

  • Hall usher
  • Student proctor
  • Stage staff
  • Certificate table staff
  • Information/ticket desk
  • Student registration desk

Successful applicants may have the opportunity to perform several different roles at graduation ceremonies.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

As the successful candidate, you must be currently studying at The University of Queensland. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to address and relate well to a broad range of students and stakeholders on a variety of levels. You must have valid work rights in Australia to apply for this opportunity. Ability to demonstrate flexibility, work under pressure and meet deadlines is beneficial. What We Can Offer

This is a Casual position at HEW level 1.1 the hourly rate is $33.75 increasing to $34.42 effective 1 January 2021.
