Southern Queensland Rural Health (SQRH)

Southern Queensland Rural Health (SQRH) is a joint initiative of The University of Queensland (UQ), University of Southern Queensland (USQ), Darling Downs Health (DDH) and South West Hospital and Health Service (SWHHS). We support nursing, midwifery, allied health students and health professionals to develop a high quality and highly skilled workforce across regional, rural and remote Southern Queensland.

SQRH is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health as a University Department of Rural Health under the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training Program (RHMTP). SQRH is funded to engage with the local communities to support the delivery of training to students, maintain and progress an evidence base and the rural health research agenda, support improvements in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, and provide regional leadership in developing innovative training solutions to address rural workforce recruitment retention.

About This Opportunity

Following an internal promotion, a rare opportunity has become available in Charleville as the Clinical Educator (Nursing). This position is responsible for supporting effective, high quality rural training experiences for pre-registration nursing and midwifery students across rural and remote South West Queensland. It will include driving the success of rural placements through consultation and leadership in nurse education, facilitating interprofessional learning opportunities during student placements, and enhancing support and education to both students and clinical supervisors.

Whilst this position is located in Charleville, travel to other sites across the South West Queensland region will occasionally be required. 

Our Ideal Candidate

To be successful for this opportunity, you will be a registered nurse with broad clinical experience. This experience will include significant education experience and supervision of undergraduate nursing students, and will see you bringing sound knowledge of interprofessional education, collaboration and practice, along with a willingness to participate in rural health research. 

This autonomous and diverse role will suit a highly motivated registered nurse who is passionate about education, and improving the health of rural communities including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

Above all else, you will be able to demonstrate highly developed interpersonal skills, strong negotiation and consultation skills, and the ability to establish effective relationships across a the broader rural community

What We Can Offer

This position can be filled on a full-time or part-time basis. This is a fixed-term position until 31 December 2021 at Academic level B as a Clinical Academic.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $99,542 - $118,206, plus a market loading of up to 10% and super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $116,464 - $150,121. A relocation allowance may be available as required.
