HDR Administration Manager - The University of Queensland Graduate School

More than 4,400 students are currently undertaking a higher degree by research at UQ under the support and guidance of the UQ Graduate School. The Graduate School has academic responsibility for managing admissions, providing research scholarships, supporting students during their candidature, and facilitating the examination of theses. The Graduate School coordinates year-round skills training, supports infrastructure and research facilities, and provides opportunities to accelerate career development for HDR candidates.

About This Opportunity

The HDR Administration Manager, UQ Graduate School is responsible for the management of a HDR Administration team who are responsible for a large portfolio of students. This position ensures the provision of high quality candidature services on behalf of the Graduate School; encompassing delivering program administration and candidate admission and progression and the provision of high level advice on policy and procedure.

Key components of this role include leading and developing a HDR Administration team, overseeing all aspects of HDR program related administration; providing high-level advice and recommendations in relation to all matters HDR administration related; building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders; and developing and implementing business improvement initiatives.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

Applicants should possess a relevant postgraduate qualification or be progressing towards gaining one, with significant relevant experience and leadership and management expertise in the student administration field, or a combination of relevant experience and/or education and/or training in the field of University administration. A track record of innovative and high-level problem solving skills is essential, as is the ability to make accurate assessments and exercise well developed judgement in complex situations. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills will complement these skills; as will the ability to confidently interpret policies and legislative requirements.

What We Can Offer

This is a full time, continuing position at HEW level 8.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $100,264 - $112,583, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $117,309 - $131,723.
