About This Opportunity

Two opportunities are available to work with Prof Matthew Sanders in the Parenting and Family Support Centre (PFSC). The primary aim of the PFSC is to prevent behavioural and emotional problems in children by enhancing the skills and confidence of parents and by addressing family risk factors known to contribute to adverse developmental outcomes in children. A major area of the PFSC's research and clinical activities revolve around its Triple P - Positive Parenting Program. Details of research activities can be accessed on the Parenting and Family Support Centre’s web site www.pfsc.uq.edu.au.

The successful candidates will focus their efforts on developing their expertise and emerging research profile in the area/s of parenting and family psychology, or clinical child psychology.  At this level, it is expected that the incumbent will contribute to service and engagement roles and activities.

As part of working on this project and being supported by more senior academic staff, you will develop a coherent research program to support your own emerging research profile. You will additionally be involved in participating in research funding applications, publishing in high quality outlets, and preparing research publications and progress reports.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

You will hold a PhD in Psychology (or related field) in the area of parenting and family psychology or clinical child psychology, partnered with an emerging research profile. You will have accreditation and training as a Triple P provider (level 4 and 5) along with experience in social policy analysis and demonstrated experience in statistical analysis and database management. Finally, you will be able to bring a commitment to participant confidentiality and research ethics, strong organisational skills, and well-developed interpersonal skills.

You must have ongoing unrestricted work rights in Australia to apply for this opportunity.

We value diversity and inclusion, and actively encourage applications from those who bring diversity to the University. Our Diversity and Inclusion webpage contains further information if you require additional support. Accessibility requirements and/or adjustments can be directed to recruitment@uq.edu.au.

What We Can Offer

These are full-time, fixed term positions for up to 2 years at Academic Research level A. The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $85,300 - $94,637 plus 17% super.

You will be able to take advantage of UQ Sport Facilities, recreation leave loading, salary sacrificing options, on-campus childcare, discounted private health insurance, cheap parking, development programs and many other benefits.
